Calvert City, situated
on the Tennessee River, is the turnstile for transportation in Marshall
County as it has the only industrial river access, mainline railway and
interstate highway interchanges in the county. All modes of
transportation linking Marshall County with the world must pass through
Calvert City. With these advantages, Calvert City possesses
excellent resources for industrial development. The city has
sixteen (16) industrial plants. Though metallurgical and steel
processing plants are present, the major employer remains the chemical
industry. Collectively these sixteen companies employee
approximately 3,800 people.
